Greece: The Dilemmas !!!


To be or not to be part of Eurozone or to be independent of the Eurozone and mint its own currency.

Now the European Council has approved a €7bn bridging loan for Greece from an EU-wide emergency fund. The loan was approved in principle by Eurozone ministers.

This enables Greece to now be able to repay debts to two of its creditors, the ECB and International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The €7bn loan will pay off two other loans. Various loans over the years have brought Greece to its knees and here it has taken another loan and awaits further loans with austerity measures to fix its struggling economy. 

Question: Should Greece have used the Grexit option and exited the Eurozone and just simply defaulted on all loans and interest payments and undo the austerity measures to revive the economy and free itself from being held hostage by the European nations, ECB and entities such as the IMF?

Why Marketing Consulting

Marketing consulting is understood to be an independent professional advisory service that assists organizations to achieve organizations objectives by figuring out and solving marketing related situations in businesses, and at the same time identifying and availing new opportunities and enhancing learning within the organization, and ensuring the implementation of marketing mix, marketing strategies, solutions and activities.



Marketing consultancy's are primarily concerned with the analysis, possible changes and implementation to strategy, communicating real or perceived value of a product, service or brand to the customers, for the purpose of promoting that product, service and brand. They can involve an individual or a large team and may be based in one location or across various sites including overseas.
Typical tasks, particularly for new graduate recruits, involve:
  • carrying out research and data collection to understand the organisation;
  • conducting analysis;
  • interviewing client's employees, management team and other stakeholders;
  • running focus groups and facilitating workshops;
  • preparing business proposals/presentations.
New recruits tend to spend most of their time at the client's site.
In addition to the above, tasks for more experienced and senior consultants involve:
  • identifying issues and forming hypotheses and solutions;
  • presenting findings and recommendations to clients;
  • implementing recommendations/solutions and ensuring the client receives the necessary assistance to carry it all out;
  • managing projects and programmes;
  • leading and managing those within the team, including analysts;
  • liaising with the client to keep them informed of progress and to make relevant decisions.

Consultancy firms range from larger firms that offer end-to-end solutions to smaller or boutique firms that offer specialist expertise, skills and industry knowledge.

Ethics and Culture at Organizations.

Ideally human resources departments at organizations try to hire employees who appear to have certain educational requirements as well as certain skill sets and a positive attitude. 

In organizations which are categorised as local businesses in the East, tend to hire local staff  that may position the company in the middle as regards to image and pay packages with some cultural diversity within. A non native multi-national in a foreign jurisdiction generally brings in higher management staff and recruits middle management and lower positions staff from local applicants with a strong emphasis on hiring the best candidates who conform to a strict mindset and are pliable. 

Local businesses are understanding to religious and cultural beliefs and needs including dress codes and social behaviour. However at multinationals generally the impression of professionalism may be understood to be conforming to a Western dress code and lifestyle. MNC's are generally accepting of cultural differences and do not force people to change their dress code or lifestyle to comply with a western one, however exceptions have been seen.

The question arises should each individual dress properly in a dress code that may be native to their religious and cultural background without any or should the western culture and lifestyle impose and change the employees life.

The other question that arises is what are the long term implications of this infringement?Privacy is always a delicate matter at organizations. Though a company culture may be friendly and open and encourage employees to freely interact, however the organization has an ethical obligation to ensure a safe and ethical environment to help maintain the employees religious and cultural identity.
